Sorry for the late update. I don´t have anything itty bitty to update you on but I have my projects.
I donated the preemie hats and the doll to the children´s hospital. I managed 7 hats and that was it. I thought I would get some assistance but I didn´t. Made me a little sad but that is just how it is. I was sure that people could manage an hour to knit up a tinny hat and send it my way but I guess people were busy with their own lives. Sorry I´m not trying to give you a guilt trip. Just disappointed. There were over 40 babies in the NICU and only 7 got little hats.
I knit a pebbles vest for M in the last 2 days. He is going to wear it tomorrow for the Christmas Eve dinner at my brother´s house.
I worked on my Tea Leaves Cardigan and only have the sleeves and the button band left to go. I think I might even have some left over yarn. I might have to unravel and knit a little more length to it if I have enough left over yarn after I knit the sleeves. I don´t think it is quite long enough for me.
I´ve added to the odds and ends blanket.
Knit on 2 pairs of mittens because I really need some. They are both a fun knit. One pair I am knitting 2 at a time magic loop and the other on double pins.
Added two squares to O and M´s TV blanket. It´s the basket weave stitch. I really enjoyed it. It´s also fun to be able to try new stitches in making this for my boys.
I also designed a market bag that I need to tweak a little to make it work for me. This one I knit up with left over cheap cotton that I plan on dyeing over. It looks like an Easter egg right now.
I also have a surprise for my friend in France on the needles. It will be a late Christmas present.
On top of my knitting I started quilting this week. Yes I know, how do I do it all? It´s not magic it is just habit of getting things done and Flylady.net helps keep me on track with house work. But here are some of my photos of my work in progress.
Also in some of these photos you can see one of my Craigslist.com rescues. I bought this cabinet for $25 and it was not pretty but with a little white paint and some primer. I started by removing all the hard wear and then just painted it with primer and then some white spray paint. It´s not perfect but it works great for my sewing-machine and art supplies.
Oh I also painted our bathroom this month. Took me 3 weeks to finish but it got done.
We also have a new member of the family. She was a early Christmas present for my boys. They LOVE her. I even got her a little ball to exercise in. The trick is to keep the boys from kicking her or throwing her around while she is in it. I think she is a perfect way to teach my boys what it means to take care of something. O feeds her every morning and brings her water bottle over to the sink so that I can put fresh water in it. She is also warm and fuzzy and fun to pet.
Hoping you have a great holiday season and to you that celebrate Christmas, Marry Christmas! Hope you were able to finish what you were hoping to finish on your needles.
Had do end with a little itty bitty fun. The boys are playing IN the itty bitty toy box. It´s M´s fav place to sit and play.
Sorry for the long post. I guess I had a lot to share.

Knitting for Charity.
I have decided to start knitting preemie caps for my local NICU this holiday season. To think of all the little boys and girls fighting for their life and spending their first Christmas in the NICU makes me sad and I want to do something for them. Like you saw in my previous post I have made a preemie hat pattern that takes me only 44 min to knit (the average length of my favorite show when watching it on Netflix) I wanted to share it with you and hopefully inspire more people to spend only 44 min to knit a baby hat for a child in need of your thoughts and prayers.
At the moment I am using up the left overs of the yarn that was sponsored by Be Sweet and it is so soft and amazing that I couldn't think of a better purpose for this yarn than to pass on the love to tinny tinny people.
If you would like to join me you can knit these up and give them to your local NICU, send them to me to be given to my local NICU, or if you would like to help but don't have time, you can go to my tip jar on the left hand side of my page and donate money for yarn for the little Santa hats (making a pattern for these and posting it on Monday) I want to make for these little ones for the holidays. Leave as much or as little as you want. If every one just gave a dollar or 50 cents then I would have mores than enough for the 40+ babies that are going to be in the NICU this holiday. If you do donate. Add a note that the donation is for yarn for the NICU and also leave your address because the Children's Foundation likes to send out thank you cards to those that help. If you are not comfortable with giving your address then your e-mail address will have to do for them.
Please call your local NICU before starting your projects because they might have restrictions on what material you can use. All my local NICU wants is that is it soft, new and washable.
When it comes to sizing then the hats can range from the size to fit an orange to fit a grapefruit so you could use that as a guide.
Here is the pattern
44 min Bambino Preemie Hat
With Be Sweet bambino or another light worsted weight yarn cast on 52 st on a size 4 US needle (you can use bigger or smaller needles to make various sizes for the NICU).
*K2, p2* to the end of the round for 20 rows (you can add a few rows here if you would like to roll up the sides)
Row 21: *k1, k2tog, p1* rep to end (39 st remain)
Row 22:*k2, p1* rep to end
Row 23: *k1, k2tog* to end (26st)
Row 24: knit all st.
Row 25: k2tog all st. (13 st)
Row 26: k2tog all st to the last st then knit it (7 st)
Row 27: k2tog 3 times k1 (4 st)
Row 28: with dpn k2tog k2 (3st)
Work in I-cord til it measures an inch long. Cut yarn leaving a 6 inch long tail, pull it through the remanding stitches, and thread it on a yarn needle then either whip stitch the end to the base of the I-cord or tie a knot on the i-cord.
There are many other free preemie and newborn hats on ravelry and I plan to post some more patterns as I design them here on my blog through out the month.

New Sponsor! Be Sweet!
I know it's been a while since I posted but this post I have truly looked forward to writing.
There are not very many companies out there that make a quality product and make sure that the product helps those in need. I am honored to have one of my toys sponsored by Be Sweet which is one of those companies. I hope you go over to their site and look at all this company does and makes. Be Sweet not only makes eco-friendly yarn but helps women in Africa by providing job training, giving the women a skill with their job and, as if that isn't enough, donates money to the local schools in the woman's area.
by Susan B Anderson. When I found out that the yarn was on it's way I got very excited and then when it arrived in the mail I actually jumped for joy, when I opened the envelope, so my boys got all excited as well. We all did a little dance and ooed and awed over the yarn then I cut off tiny bits of it so that the boys could touch and feel it. They are not old enough to understand that what they are feeling is fibers all the way from Africa made by the most amazing African ladies but I know and they can feel my excitement and think it is pretty special themselves.
I received 4 skeins to use in making the toy. The colors are Natural, Navy, Tangerine, and Lime Green.
and I made this with it.
As you can see, I did not use the lime green color but I promise to use it for good. I was inspired by this company to pay it forward and I have started knitting hats for the preemies at my local NICU. The reversible doll is also going to be given to the hospital to a child that needs a friend (or 2) to help him or her through a hard time. You can read more about this in this blog post where I have put up a free pattern.
The braids were made with left over yarn from other projects.
The sisters is a fun easy toy and I followed the pattern exactly except for the arms. It would have been to much work to stuff them after I knit them so I stuffed the hand part as I was closing them up and then I just left the upper arms unstuffed.
Working with this yarn is AMAZING! I can't stop petting these tinny little preemie hats I'm making with the left over yarn. It is made of organic cotton and bamboo. It's a little thick and thin but not to extreme. The yarn can be easy to split if you are not paying attention because you are reading a book or watching TV but this yarn is so dreamy that it deserves all of your attention. Knowing that the yarn is organic and that the dyes are low impact makes it even better. I wish I could work with this yarn all the time. It would make a great infant blanket. It is even machine washable!

Nadine was nice enough to answer a quick web interview for me to tell us more about this amazing company and it was such a delight to e-mail back and fourth with her about this sponsorship.
Who is the mastermind behind Be Sweet yarns and how did the company get it´s start?
Who is your yarn artist and where does s/he get his/her inspiration?
What inspired you to give back to people in need?
With giving back, how do you choose the programs that you give to from all the different programs out there?
Is there anything new and exciting that you are working on now that you would like to share with us?
Thank you so much Nadine. You are an inspiration to us all.
I hope all my readers treat themselves and make a difference by buying some Be Sweet yarn this season. You know you deserve a treat!

Here is a photo of the beautiful Nadine Curtis, who was amazing enough to donate the yarn for this toy and one skein of the Bambino Taffy In the Coco color for a giveaway! Yes you read me right. I'm sure you have seen these at your local yarn store. Now you get to try if you are lucky!

There is the interview.
I am the owner, Nadine Curtis, and decided to start a range of hand knitting yarns made from fibers that I was working with for our South African accessories range. I had the opportunity to live in South Africa for a couple of years and fell in love with innovative craft products coupled with production by people in empowering job creation programs.
Who is your yarn artist and where does s/he get his/her inspiration?
We work with many groups and artisans to produce our complete range. The inspirations come from many places. Our new Bambino Taffy was inspired by developing further our "self striping" "all in one" yarns but with a cotton based fiber. Also we wanted to make it look cute and sweet so we packaged like a piece of taffy candy - hence the name.
What inspired you to give back to people in need?
Why not? Living in South Africa it's easy to feel drawn to helping others that are less fortunate. There is a lot of poverty and I believed that I could find a way to do my little part to help others there.
With giving back, how do you choose the programs that you give to from all the different programs out there?
The school that we give donations to is based in the small community where our mohair group is located and the children and education of that community is in need. We want to help give opportunities to the children of our artisans. The Bright Start program was started by my friend Sally Whitford and her mother Sharon who are dynamic women and also believe that giving youngsters the opportunity to learn is where changing and uplifting a community begins.
Is there anything new and exciting that you are working on now that you would like to share with us?
Yes yes yes! We have new colors and patterns coming out for Spring 2011 including a new Magic Ball color called Blossoms, Misty Lakes, and Antique. Also two new Bambino Taffy colors -- French Revolution and Candy Sprinkles.
Next fall we will be launching a new simplicity line with some really fun and unique fiber combinations in gorgeous colors with elegant patterns to support. Thank you so much Nadine. You are an inspiration to us all.
I hope all my readers treat themselves and make a difference by buying some Be Sweet yarn this season. You know you deserve a treat!

Right now I'm working on a hat and a pair of cable and lace mitts as Christmas presents, but I think I'd use this to kniw a Hanami stole.
The hippo turned out really cute! I'll have to find out what Najajo plying is, sounds intriguing.
