Seed Companies-Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds

Like I promised in my last post I said that I would start posting about my experiences with seed companies.

Today It is Baker Creek that I would like to talk about.

I am all about organic non genetically altered seeds and I really love growing things that you can´t get in the grocery store. The seeds being heirloom is an absolute plus. Last year I signed up for their seed book. I looked through it and wanted to try growing everything but realized that it would be way to expensive and I was having a hard time narrowing down my selection. To make it easier on myself I decided to get the Southern small heirloom package. It has 15 types of veggies and 30 varieties.
I didn´t try everything in the tin because my family doesn´t eat all of it but the things we did try were great. The only thing I wasn´t very thrilled about was the french cuc for pickling because it was so extremely prickly. I did let my garden get a bit out of hand last summer because of me having a baby but I´m looking forward to expanding my garden and using the seeds that I have left over and adding a few more to the package.
I did have 2 packages that just didn´t sprout for me but I contacted the company and they replaced it and they are on their way to me as we speak.
As you can see I over planted my  2 beds last year. We will see what I get from them this year to try.

If you order from Baker Creek Tell them That I sent you.

What do you want to grow this year?

It´s been a while

As you can tell it´s been a while since I posted last. I´ve taken a bit of a knitting brake even though I didn´t really have time to if I am to finish the itty bitty toy book in time but it was much needed. Some of the things that have been going on since I was on here last are; I have started back at Grad school and only have a year left. I can´t believe that I only have a year left of grad school. For those of you that don´t know me that well, I am getting my Masters in Science if Counseling Psychology. I have 2 of my favorite professors this semester which is nice but I also have LOADS of work so I will only be posting here maybe every other week if I´m lucky. M started at the mothers day out program at a church half a mile away where O has been going since last fall and he really enjoys his 5 hours there 3 days a week. This way I can run my errands and get my homework done. I´m also trying my darndest to keep my house under control using flylady.net to help me out. I´m not a perfect housekeeper and before I found flylady I was such a perfectionist that I often didn´t do anything because I was so overwhelmed with the task at hand but flylady has ways of getting over that perfectionism and showing me that every little thing that I can get done blesses my family even if it is just picking up the socks off the floor while there are toys everywhere. If you go to the website then please start from the beginning with the babysteps button.
On the knitting front I have finished 2 projects and started 2 more.
I finished Anne´s reading mitts which I am sending to her on Monday.
I´ve also finished O´s Pebbles vest.
I´ve started a blanket for my family.
and the lion and the elephant from the itty bitty book which I will have to finish quickly because my year is almost over and I still have 6 toys to finish. Wish me luck.

Still working on the white witch mitts.
I´m also working on my quilt. I´ve almost finished the quilt top which I will show you when I´m done. I´ve sort of gotten obsessed.
Here is a photo that describes what I think about when I´m not studying or cleaning. I´ve got my garden on my mind. I can´t stop thinking about what I am going to grow this year. I´ll be planting my tomato seeds and herb seeds today. Coming soon are blog posts about the various seed companies that I have tried and what I think of them.
