I am exactly with Rod re intarsia. I need to learn it to knit a toy for my DGS (a robot from Jess Hutchison's little booklet). I've had that waiting since before he was born and he's now 5. Hmmm. I guess it's going to be this year? (Yes, I know. I said that last year, too. Luckily, he doesn't know about the robot.)

Rod, also, that shawl is GORGEOUS. And just today I got in the mail a yarn that might be perfect for that shawl. Not sure I can swing the price of the book just now, however. But I do love knitting lace.

And answering your question (it took me a while to think about this):

I would say INTARSIA. I have never tried it. Just thinking about all those bobbins and loose ends makes me a bit crazy. I am not sure I would have the patient to deal with it. Have you tried it?

Knitting lace is time consuming but the all the magic comes when blocking... it is so rewarding that you get addicted to it.

Next time you come to Iceland we should meet for some lace knitting sessions : )

(btw, Gummi also got the BITE of knitting lace!)
